On Thursday, October 15, 2020, a collision occurred at the intersection of State Road 56 and Slab Road in Scottsburg, Indiana. Scott County Sherriff’s Department and the Scottsburg Police Department responded and requested a reconstruction team to the collision scene. According to the investigators, a Chevrolet Equinox was traveling eastbound on State Road 56 at the intersection with Slab Road when it slowed down as it approached a vehicle that was preparing to turn north. At the same time, a Saturn LS1, traveling eastbound on State Road 56, behind the Equinox, when it entered the westbound lane of State Road 56, struck a Toyota Highlander that had approached the intersection from the west. As a result of the collision, the Highlander drove off the north side of State Road 56 while the Saturn spun and struck the Equinox. The driver of the Highlander was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision, and the drivers of the Saturn and the Equinox were both taken to Scott Memorial Hospital.
Everyone on the road seems to be in a hurry and never wants to wait behind another driver while trying to get where they need to go. When drivers become impatient and begin changing lanes to pass vehicles while speeding, they put themselves and others around them in danger.
