Rensselaer Police Arrest Five Drunk Drivers in 25 Day Enforcement Period

Blog

The Rensselaer Police Department has arrested five drunk drivers during its recent Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign.  During the 25-day enforcement period, which ran from mid-August through Labor Day, the Rensselaer Police stopped 26 vehicles, and five were arrested for driving while intoxicated.  The Nation Highway Safety Administration has stated that, on average, more than 10,000.00 people die every year from drunk driving collisions in the U.S., equivalent to one person dying approximately every 50 minutes.  In Indiana, during 2019, 106 people were killed in a collision involving an intoxicated driver, making up 14% of the state’s traffic fatalities, according to the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute.  This year’s national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign, which is funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration through the criminal justice institute, included over 200 participating state and local law enforcement agencies.  Daily enforcement of driving while intoxicated laws continue and the Rensselaer Police Department reminds people that it is illegal to drive with a blood-alcohol concentration of .08 or higher.

Drunk driving does not stop at any time of the year.  It continues to be a problem nationwide and puts many people at risk for injury and possibly death.  While the police continue to work hard to enforce intoxicated driving laws, many drivers continue to endanger themselves and others by getting behind the wheel with a dangerous amount of alcohol in their system.  If you or someone you know has been injured or killed in a car accident by someone driving while intoxicated, please contact the experienced legal team at Schiller Law Offices at 888-578-3100 or at IndyInjured.com to learn more about your potential right to compensation.
