A collision that occurred in Mishawaka, Indiana, on Friday, February 7, 2020, resulted in the death of one motorist.  The collision involved a vehicle that was being pursued by police on the St. Joseph Valley Parkway and ended in a collision with another vehicle at the intersection with McKinley and Byrkit Avenues in Mishawaka.  According to the Indiana State Police, a Jeep that fled from an Indiana State Trooper and led several police officers in pursuit collided with a vehicle on the McKinley and Byrkit Avenue intersection.  The Jeep, which an officer had attempted to pull over for a parking violation, had been fleeing from the police at a high rate of speed and ran several red lights in heavy traffic.  Police that had been pursuing the Jeep had to pull back after the motorist entered the Home Street intersection due to traffic.  The Jeep contained one driver and three passengers, and one person fled from the police after the collision.

Most drivers will pull over when instructed to do so by the police, knowing that attempting to flee from them is fruitless.  However, for the few that do believe that they can escape from the police, caring about other driver’s safety on the road is the least of their worries.  If you or someone you know has been injured or killed by the negligence of another motorist, please contact the experienced legal team at Schiller Law Offices at 888-578-3100 or at IndyInjured.com to learn more about your potential right to compensation.
