July is the Deadliest Month for Drunk Driving

Blog

As the month of July begins with our nation’s birthday drivers should be wary as they begin traveling for summer vacation.  There are more deaths from drunk driving than any other month, according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration with the 4th of July weighing considerably in these statistics.  Many people drink on this holiday during the backyard barbeques, firework displays, and other festivities, which make it one of the deadliest holidays of the year, and when the weekend accompanies it drunker drivers are likely to be on the road.  During the 4th of July week in 2017, about 40% of all traffic deaths were alcohol-related and nearly 10,874 people died in alcohol-impaired driving crashes, an average of one alcohol-impaired-driving fatality every 48 minutes.  To help avoid adding to this statistic, stay off the roads, use public transit, and make sure that you have a designated driver to stay safe during this patriotic week.

The 4th of July and any day during the summer, in general, is a great time to enjoy social activities, but that doesn’t mean that everyone is being responsible and driving unimpaired.  If you or someone you know has been seriously injured or killed due to the negligence or reckless actions of another individual while on the road, please contact the experienced legal team at Schiller Law Offices at 888-578-3100 or at IndyInjured.com to learn more about your potential right to compensation.
