Friday night, on October 31st, a woman driving an SUV with 2 children as her passengers on I-70 in Vigo County, crashed into the back of a semi in front of her. The impact pushed the semi forward resulting in additional impact with another semi in the front.  The woman died as a result of the crash; the children sustained multiple injuries and had to be extricated from the SUV and transported to a hospital for emergency care.  Although no injuries reported for the driver of the second semi, the driver of the first semi was reported to have suffered of an arm injury, and was also transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment. Indiana State Police believes that the driver of the SUV failed to apply her breaks prior to the crash.  According to the data collected by the State Police, the accident happened when the traffic slowed down or stopped due to construction in the area.
