Police were called to the 2700 block of Nine Mile around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 7th, responding to a head-on collision. A 23-year-old from Richmond, Indiana, was driving a 2014 Mercedes when she overcorrected after her car went off the road. Once the 23-year-old got her car back onto Nine Mile Road, she was in the path of a Ford Fusion. Both cars then crashed into each other head-on in the northbound lane. The 23-year-old driver of the Mercedes was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the other vehicle was a 22-year-old male from Decatur, Indiana, and he, as well as the 20-year-old backseat passenger, were also killed on the scene of the crash. The front-seat passenger of the Ford Fusion was taken to the hospital but then later died as a result of his injuries from the crash. According to the Indiana State Police, it is believed that speeding played a factor in this crash.

Speeding plays one of the biggest factors in the majority of automobile collisions across the country and the world. Drivers should always be looking at what the speed limits of the road are, at all times, in order to keep themselves and other drivers on the road safe.
