Soon to be erected and developed upon the location of the Old Farmer Market in Avon, Indiana, which has been vacant for nearly 5 years, will be a new type of medical facility called a micro hospital. This facility will be the first of its kind within Central Indiana and will provide medical services for out-patient and short hospital treatments to new patients.  In addition to restoring and upgrading the vacant premises, this new micro hospital will likely serve as an important alternative to emergency rooms of larger hospitals to treat injury and trauma victims, by providing specialized treatment in the smaller hospital.  The medical facility’s tentative name is St. William’s Hospital of Avon, and groundbreaking on this hospital is expected to take place in the fall, pending approval of building permits by both State of Indiana and Town of Avon officials.

Although the Indianapolis metropolitan area and surrounding community is recognized for numerous respected hospitals and recent Level I Trauma Centers, the addition of St. William’s Hospital of Avon will likely serve as a necessary and efficient treatment facility for victims of motor vehicle collisions along with numerous patients requiring short-term hospitalization.
