On Monday, April 6, 2020, a two-vehicle collision occurred on State Road 350 near the city of Osgood, in Ripley County. The Indiana State Police responded to the collision, and their investigation indicated that a black 2003 Mazda was traveling eastbound on State Road 350 near Finks Road. For reasons unknown to investigating officers, the Mazda left the south side of the road and struck a guardrail, returning onto the road and entered the westbound lane of State Road 350 into the path of a white 1998 Chevrolet dump truck. After the head-on collision, the Mazda came to a rest in the center of State Road 350, and the dump truck overturned and came to a rest on the north side of the roadway. The driver of the Mazda was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision by the Ripley County Coroner’s Office. Toxicology results are still pending for both drivers.
Smaller vehicles may not seem capable of causing substantial damage to a larger vehicle in a collision.
