On Sunday, June 15, 2020, a collision occurred on U.S. 231, injuring six people.  According to the Indiana State Police, a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox was traveling southbound on U.S. 231, while a 2010 Dodge Caravan was traveling northbound on U.S. 231.  The Equinox turned into the lane of travel of the Caravan while trying to turn onto State Road 62.  The resulting collision caused the Equinox to spin out of control and strike the median, while the Caravan stopped on State Road 62.  The collision resulted in both vehicles being totaled.  The driver and two juvenile passengers in the Caravan complained of pain in their backs and were transported to Memorial Hospital in Jasper.  The other passengers of the Caravan all complained of neck and back pain and were transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.

Changing roads any time requires drivers to be patient and vigilant, especially if there are no traffic control signals.  When they don’t, collisions are very likely to occur and can be fatal.
