On Monday afternoon around 1:30 p.m., a man mowing the grass was struck by a pickup truck off Indiana 46 near Riley. The driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle and struck a utility pole, then hit the man on the lawnmower. The man driving the lawnmower was thrown off after being hit by the pickup truck and was airlifted to IU Methodist Hospital in critical condition. The driver of the pickup truck said it was a mechanical malfunction that caused him to lose control of his vehicle and go off the road. Drugs and alcohol were not involved in the crash, according to the police and the news.
People can not plan what could happen while driving a car and when it could possibly malfunction, like this situation. In this case, it injured not only the driver but another individual that was not even in a car or on the road.
