Auto accidents can happen when you least expect it, and oftentimes, the person who is at fault for the accident does not behave responsibly or follow proper procedure.

“An Indianapolis man was arrested late Thursday in connection with a fatal car crash about 6 p.m. near West 34th Street and Georgetown Road.

The man killed in the crash was Yanpeng Wang, 25, Indianapolis metropolitan police said late Friday.

Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department believe a white truck northbound on Georgetown Road hit the victim’s compact car as it was headed west on 34th Street, according to an IMPD news release.

The driver of the truck then ran from the scene, according to IMPD.

About 8:30 p.m., the suspect, identified as William Edwards, 33, Indianapolis, was brought to Eskenazi Health, uninjured, by family members. They said Edwards had made “erratic and inconsistent statements to them about what had occurred,” IMPD said.

He was to be preliminarily charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing death, possession of marijuana, and battery. The latter preliminary charge relates to a fight he had with Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies at Eskenazi.”
